Gutter Systems

Gutter systems are a highly specialized component of exterior construction.
Whether you are replacing an older gutter system, installing a new one, or repairing/maintaining an existing one, you want to make sure whomever is helping you out has a deep understanding of how gutter systems operate and properly function.
LOPCO Contracting has installed thousands of linear feet of gutter systems since 1995 and has helped our Clients’ repair and maintain countless others!!

There are a number of different types of gutter systems.
Aluminum gutter systems are most common these days and optimally are utilized in the capacity of seamless systems.
Seamless systems are systems where there are not any seams that happen to occur in the middle of stretches of individual runs of gutter. If one has a seam in their system, there is a good chance that the seam could develop a leak over a period of time whereas seamless systems are MUCH less susceptible to having leaks in the middle of their systems.
Wood gutter systems, believe it or not, are still fairly numerous, depending upon the part of the country that you are in and the average age of the housing stock in that area. The older the average age of the housing stock, the more likely one is to find a number of homes in that area with wooden gutters.
Wooden gutters need more maintenance than any other gutter system as their insides should be treated 1-2 times per year with a cleaning and a protectant being applied. If a wooden gutter system needs to be replaced, it is often a more in depth repair than other types of gutter systems due to the nature of how wood has to be worked with when utilizing it as a gutter system.

Another type of system, somewhat in-line with the number of wooden gutter systems out there, are copper gutter systems.
As with wooden gutter systems, one would more likely find copper gutter systems to be more prevalent in areas with an older average age of housing stock.
Copper gutter systems are certainly the most gleaming of all options when first installed and patina over time there afterward. Copper gutter systems are very challenging to repair, particularly with regard to older copper gutter systems. This is for a variety of reasons but mostly because the seams often need to be lead-soldered together when they fail (for optimum effectiveness) and the molds of older copper systems are often difficult to match with what is available on the market today.
There are also other types of gutter systems that are at play in the marketplace – vinyl, fiberglass, and plastic to name a few…
Whichever gutter system you happen to have (or wish you had!), LOPCO Contracting is, without a doubt, a company that you should be having a conversation with.
